BHORGIRI TO BHIMASHANKAR FIREFLIES SPECIAL TREK
The Bhorgiri fort is located about 95 km from Pune. The nearest town is Rajgurunagar (Khed). This fort is also about 45km west of the Rajgurunagar town on a small hill detached from the Bhimashankar Hill. The fort is situated near the village Bhorgiri. The fort hill is flanked on both sides by Bhima river and a small tributary of the Bhima river
There are many caves and shiva lingams on the fort. The structures on the fort are now shrub-covered ruins. There is a stone idol of the god Virabhadra on the fort
The Bhimashankar Mandir (also known as Bhimashankar or Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga) is a Shiva mandir situated in its eponymous village, Bhimashankar, in Pune district of Maharashtra. It is a key pilgrimage centre and one of the 12 Jyotirlinga in the world. The temple's Shiva lingam is one of the five Jyotirlinga of Maharashtra. The mandir is situated on a mountain. It is 110 kilometers away from Pune. The temple's vicinity has rare plant and animal species.Bhimashankar Mandir is located in Khed taluka, in the Bhimashankar forest range.
The Bhima River originates from the Bhimashankar village, and the hills of the Manmad village are present near it. There are old rock carvings of the god Bhimashankar, Bhootings and Amba-Ambika on these hills.
Trek Brief
● Leaving Pune:10:30 pm on Saturday, 25th June 23. (Bus pick up points are in the website link.)
● Trek route: Start from Bhorgiri village - Bhimashankar - Bhorgiri Fort (Optional) - End at Bhorgiri village.
● Trekking duration: 6 Hrs.
● Elevation gain: 600m.
● Endurance Level: 5/10 Easy
● Tentative return time to Pune: 5 pm on Sunday.

Note : Fireflies spotting is a natural phenomenon as per past records the ideal time to spot fireflies is from mid May to mid June incase of no fireflies visibility no refund will be provided.

IMPORTANT:
- Avoid wearing precious Jewelry while trekking, as Sunshie Trekkers won’t be responsible for any losses for the same.
- Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Smoking is strictly not allowed. Anybody found smoking or consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without refund.
- Dear Sunshine Trekkers always remember SHOES are your best companion on a trek! Please wear a good pair of TREKKING SHOES and not sports or running shoes. Make sure they are durable and firm enough to withstand tough conditions. You can carry floaters to wear only after the trek is completed. Feel free to contact Sunshine Friend prior to the trek in case of any confusion.
Fitness & Health:
Though trekking is a fun-filled activity, it demands good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over the counter medication for temporary treatment, so do give a heads up to them if you need any medical assistance.

Day 2:

Early morning we will reach Bhorgiri base village by 2PM &Trek Brief we will start your trek to Bhimashankar temple

It is around 6 KMs of trekking to the temple on the way you witness Fireflies , Gupt Bhimashankar

Later reach Bhimashankar after break we will start return journey to Bhorgiri by noon and have lunch

After lunch defart for Pune 2 PM.
